| 内容記述 | 政府系国際ボランティア組織である平和部隊（Peace Corps）は、ジョン・F・ケネディ大統領によって創設されて以来、半世紀以上にわたり、市民参加型の国際ボランティア事業を牽引してきた。本研究では、1965年にドミニカ共和国で起こった4月革命、それに続く米国海兵隊の軍事侵攻下における平和部隊のボランティア（以下、隊員）の経験に焦点を当てた。本研究ノートでは、隊員の証言、機関内書簡、電報などの一時史料に加え、先行研究や新聞報道記事を用い、当時の隊員たちの状況や退避をめぐる議論、ソフトパワーのエージェントとして、国際ボランティアである隊員たちに課せられた役割とその限界点について分析した。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | The Peace Corps, a government-affiliated international volunteer agency, has pioneered in international volunteerism since its foundation. This study explores the experiences of US Peace Corps Volunteers during the 1965 April Revolution in the Dominican Republic and the subsequent U.S. Marine invasion. The study analyzed archival documents such as testimonies of the members, agency letters, telegrams, and US and local newspaper articles. This study focus on exploring how the U.S. government's expectations of working as soft power agents resulted in the decision not to evacuate the volunteers, and the limitations of the US government's positioning of Peace Corps as soft power agents. | |||||||
