In this paper we describe the bases for the theory of nonassociative Hilbert triple systems from the algebraic and functional analytic point of view. In the last section we give a new elementary proof that every simple associative Hilbert triple system is isomorphic either to the triple of Hilbert-Schmidt operators or to its negative.},
