In 1968 vegetation research was carried out when the area was prepared for the University campus ( Kitagawa, Miyawaki & kawamura 1968). In some areas plantations of Castanopsis cuspidata var. sieboldii, Cinnamomum camphora and Chamaecyparis obtusa grew. 70 buildings (140,013 m2), roads, parking areas and playgrounds were constructed from 1968. Vegetation on the campus was changed remarkably. In this research 24 plant communities are recognized.  A map of actual vegetation was drawn with 20 legend items. The vegetation was compared with that of Hodogaya Golf course when the University campus was prepared in 1968. Results of the investigation are as follows: 1) Progressive succession was rather slow in the forest, 2) In the environmental restoration forest vegetation is well developed, 3) successional mechanisms are analyzed, 4) Suggestions for an ecological campus museum are proposed.
