The apparatus used is similar to that used by Poulton. Two course speeds (1 and 4cm/sec.) are tried in this study. Experimental design: By using the same Latin square the same experiment is repeated 4 times with 5 subjects assigned at random to each row of the square. In the experiment, tracking is performed for 2 min. under each condition. Subjects: The Ss are 40 students of Yokohama National University. They consist of 20 men and 20 women, all of the age of 19-21. None of them have so far had much tracking. The results get in this study are as follows: 1) In the conditions of both slow and fast inputs errors seem to increase according to the extent of masking increases. The trend is more marked with the slow input than with the fast input. 2) The errors of the preview of the slow input is not significant, while the errors of the preview with the fast input decrease as the extent of preview increases. 3) The condition in which there is no-masking and the size of the preview is 1～3cm can be found the most effective span with the slow input.
