Among about 400 oribatid species obtained, Tegoribates trifolius, maerkelotritia kishidai Diapterobates pusillus etc. in the alpine subalpine zone, Eohipochthonius magnus, Apolohmannia gigantea, Nipponiella simplex in the montane zone and Eohypochthonius crassisetiger Galumnella nipponica, Eremobelba minuta etc. in the basal zone were considered as characteristic of the respective zones. In comparison with the oribatid fauna of the montane and the basal zones, that of the alpine~subalpine zone showed the following features. (1)Higher percentage in the species number of Poronota and lower percentage of Gymnonota, (2)Increase in the species number of the families Ceratozetidae and Camisiidae, (3)Decrease in the species number of the families Oppiidae, Otocepheidae and Haplozetidae, (4)Scarcity of Rhysotritia ardua which is one of the most common species in the montane and basal zones. The greater discrepancy in species composition of oribatid mite communities occurred between the alpine~subalpine zone and the montane zone. In the alpine~subalpine zone, the number of component species is high in coniferous forest, low in grassland and medium in krummholz community. In the montane zone, the mean number of oribatid species from coniferous forest was relatively low compared with that from deciduous broad-leaved forest, such tendency was found remarkably in artificial coniferous forest. The oribatid communities in cool temperate forests (in the montane zone) tended to be dominated by a few number of species such as Suctobelbella spp., Oppiella nova, Tectocepheus spp. and Quadroppia quadricarinata, but diversity of dominant species was found in those of warm temperate forests.}, pages = {119--166}, title = {ササラダニ類の生態分布に関する研究 I : 本州中部地域を中心として}, volume = {15}, year = {1988} }
