Through these many data, the following facts were clarified, such as the time variation, the occurrence of high concentration, the relation of wind verocity and direction, the distribution in the wide area, etc. In these facts, it was important that the ethylene of very high concentration was occasionally discharged and caused heavy pollution in this region. This phenomenon is difficult to be detected by means of the conventional measuring methods, except for using the automatic continuous analyzer. The source of ethylene was determined by comparing the concentration of ethylene with the direction of wind and with that of acetylene, Which was only exhausted from automobiles but not from the kombinat.
