But preservation and utilization of the mangrove vegetation are important environmental problems in the world. During the periods from October to November 1981, the phytosociological study on the mangrove vegetation, supported by overseas scientific research project of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and the National Research Council of Thailand, was carried out in Thailand.
