A questionnaire survey was conducted with residents of Takashimadaira housing complex. One-thousand households were randomly selected from all the households in a housing complex located in Takashimadaira 2-chome (n = 7,741) using random number tables. Among the 1,000 households, questionnaires could not be distributed to 67households and therefore 933 households participated in the study. We obtained 288 responses (response rate = 24.4%). About 60% of the participants were elderly people and more than half of them lived alone. Among the elderly people living alone, 34.7% was male and 65.3% was female(mean age 70.1 ±4.9). The results indicated that the type of mass media used by them was different depending on the kind of information that they provided. Most elderly people acquired information about senior citizen’s clubs, neighborhood associations, and various study activities that were useful to prevent living in isolation, by reading local newspapers. Furthermore, factors related to reading local newspapers were analyzed and it was indicated that the main, long-term readers of local newspapers providing general information were long-term residents of the area. Moreover, readers of newspapers specializing in local events, as well as those providing information about group activities were women, and not people living alone. It is suggested that providing information through local newspapers would be effective for preventing social isolation of elderly people. Furthermore, results indicated that choosing a local newspaper after considering the type of information and the target of information was an important consideration.}, pages = {19--26}, title = {<論文>都市部の団地に暮らす高齢者のタウン紙利用状況}, year = {2013} }
