The data of the influence coefficients. K_, have been obtained for a semielliptical or a quarter-elliptical surface crack in a flat plate and for a semielliptical surface crack in a round bar. In this paper, the authors have shown how these data can be applied to the analysis of K for a surface crack originating at the stress-concentrated portions such as notch roots, welding joints and circular holes.
