The strategy of individual consultation was introduced at Yokohama National University in 2010 for the purpose of enhancing the overall teaching skills and classroom organizational skills of the faculty of YNU. This new initiative involves one-on-one consultations as well as an in-class interviewing technique which involves all students in the classroom of the participating faculty member (client). The consultations and interviews are conducted during the midterm session, and, therefore, are being referred to as “Midterm Student Feedback” or MSF. The interviews are conducted by the initiating faculty member of the Faculty Development Program. To assess the positive effects, if any, of the consultation, the initiating faculty member conducted a survey of both faculty and students who participated in MSF. The findings indicate that not only were there positive benefits of faculty members teaching skills, but, in addition, the students\u0027 attitude toward the instructors and learning improved considerably as well. 内容記述 | This paper focuses on the effectiveness of using individual consultations as a tool to improve the quality of classes as well as enhance student motivation in the classroom. The strategy of individual consultation was introduced at Yokohama National University in 2010 for the purpose of enhancing the overall teaching skills and classroom organizational skills of the faculty of YNU. This new initiative involves one-on-one consultations as well as an in-class interviewing technique which involves all students in the classroom of the participating faculty member (client).
